Technology company Nokia on Wednesday introduced An AI-powered tool called “MX Workmate” is designed specifically to generate messages for industrial workers.

The tool uses generative AI. Major language models (LLMs) to produce human-like text, offer real-time warnings of faulty machinery and suggest ways to increase factory output.

Nokia aims to expand its existing communication technology used by industrial clients by implementing this AI-powered tool.

According to Stephen Deubel, head of enterprise solutions marketing at Nokia, the generated messages include early warnings of machine malfunctions, recommendations for repairs, strategies to improve production quality and rates, or accidents within factory settings. The newly introduced “MX Workmate” by Nokia is designed as an assistant to help workers deal with the vast amount of data available. This comes at a time when manufacturers are facing shortage of qualified staff.

The Finnish company currently supplies 4G and 5 g technology, facilitating internal communication and enabling industrial firms to connect data from machine sensors, among other applications.

Generative AI has the ability to create content that resembles human language. Although its regulation is in its early stages, concerns about the legal and ethical implications are growing.

Experts say Nokia’s tool complies with operational technology (OT) regulations, but it may take time to gain confidence for this “future” technology, which requires thorough testing and fine-tuning for industry-wide adoption. Requires tuning. Some aspects, such as AI’s anti-deception, are still in the research phase, but the developer has already emphasized the tool’s accuracy, clarity, traceability, and moderation. Nokia expects the first real implementation of this tool within about a year to a year and a half. Early versions of the tool will be showcased at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in late February.
